In the report for February 2009, AdMob reports that iPhone holds 50% US smartphone Internet traffic and 30% on worldwide scale.
I saw some critics that it stands only for showing ads by AdMob and that AdMob publishes much ads on specialized iPhone apps which most are not accessible on other devices at all.
But there is another thing which is not contained in their reports: AdMob does not shows ads on regular websites, and that is where iPhone completely blows of competition. Although Symbian and the others usually have capability to show standard websites, it is simply not usable enough. Symbian users just don't use their devices for Internet browsing. Ok, they browse mobile web, but that segment is still small comparing to the usual net.
